A Humble Beginning
Our story began in 1994 when an ambitious overhead door salesman took a leap of faith and decided to start his own business. Initially, the vision for Best Door & Window was modest—just one installer and the owner himself handling day-to-day operations. However, it didn’t take long for word to spread about the quality of our work and the exceptional customer service we provided. Before we knew it, our reputation had grown throughout Logan County and beyond. What started as a small operation has since become a business that proudly serves homeowners and businesses across the region. In 2021, Best Door & Window entered a new chapter when Alan, our current owner, took the helm. Alan was looking for a new career path and had always been drawn to entrepreneurship, a value instilled in him by his parents, who were small business owners themselves. After coming across Best Door & Window through an online business brokerage, Alan immediately saw the potential in our company and its strong legacy of service to the community. Since then, he’s been dedicated to preserving the core values that have made us successful while bringing new ideas and energy to help our business grow. Adapting and Growing in a Changing Industry Like many industries, the home renovation sector has changed significantly since 1994, and we’ve made it a priority to evolve with those changes. One of the most impactful shifts has been the role of technology. From marketing and sales to customer interactions and operations, technology has transformed the way we do business. When Alan took ownership of the company, it was clear that modernization was necessary. Our website wasn’t functioning correctly, and our social media presence was minimal. Additionally, our accounting and operational systems were outdated, which affected our overall efficiency. We immediately made upgrades, transitioning to QuickBooks Online and incorporating Microsoft 365 for cloud-based storage and file sharing. These improvements have allowed us to operate more efficiently and provide an even better experience for our customers. Another major challenge in recent years has been the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted supply chains, altered customer interactions, and affected lead times. We adapted by exploring alternative suppliers, keeping certain standard items in stock, and maintaining a flexible approach to scheduling. This allowed us to continue providing the same high level of service, despite the challenges we faced. Keeping Pace with Customer Expectations Over the years, we’ve noticed how much customer expectations have evolved. With the rise of home improvement shows and the wealth of information available online, today’s customers are more knowledgeable than ever. At Best Door & Window, we’re committed to staying ahead of the curve by continually exploring new products and innovations. Our product offerings have expanded significantly over the years. From residential and commercial windows to entry doors, garage doors, storm doors, sunrooms, composite decking, retractable awnings, siding, gutters, and louvered roof systems, we strive to offer the best exterior solutions to meet every customer’s needs. Our focus is on curating top-tier products and services to ensure that we’re providing the highest quality and value in every project. Looking to the Future While we’re proud of our past, we’re even more excited about the future. In the short term, we’re focused on making continuous improvements to our processes, product offerings, and customer service. Small, incremental changes can make a big difference, and we’re always looking for ways to improve. In the long term, we’re focused on expanding our market share and bringing our quality products and services to even more homeowners in the communities we serve. One of the projects we’re particularly excited about is the upcoming launch of our garage door maintenance and service plans. These plans will allow homeowners to sign up for routine maintenance to ensure their garage doors continue to run smoothly year after year—a service we’ve been eager to offer for some time. We’re also committed to staying ahead of industry trends by incorporating the latest technology. This includes the potential use of customer relationship management systems (CRMs) and online visualization tools that help customers envision how our products will look on their homes. Our goal is to remain competitive, innovative, and always focused on delivering the best possible experience for our customers. A Deep Connection to the Community Our success wouldn’t have been possible without the loyalty and support of the local community. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of serving multiple generations of families, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the impact we’ve made on the communities we call home. Earlier this year, when a powerful tornado swept through the area, we were fortunate that our offices were spared from damage. However, many of our neighbors weren’t as lucky. We paused our normal operations for several days to assist with debris removal, building security, and recovery efforts. Helping our community in times of need is just one of the ways we strive to give back. The Reward of Customer Satisfaction One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is the opportunity to positively impact people’s lives. Whether we’re installing new windows, doors, or other products, we’re often working on people’s homes or businesses—places that are central to their lives. We take great pride in the quality of our work and the positive results we achieve for our customers. Looking Ahead with Gratitude As we celebrate 30 years of Best Door & Window, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way—especially our customers and community members who have placed their trust in us time and time again. We’d also like to give special recognition to Dan Miller, our operations leader, who has been with the company longer than any other current employee. Dan’s dedication to craftsmanship and customer care is unmatched, and his contributions have been instrumental to our success. Looking ahead, we’re excited about the future and the possibilities that lie before us. By staying true to our values, embracing innovation, and continuing to put our customers first, we’re confident that the next 30 years will be just as fulfilling and successful as the first.
