Residential Trolley Openers

We offer several different options when it comes to standard (trolley chain or belt drive) residential garage door openers. These high-quality garage door openers are available with either a DC or AC motor. The key differences between these two motor options are noise and cost. AC motors are reliable, long-lasting motors, but they tend to be noisier when compared to DC motors. DC motors are quieter, but they typically cost more than their AC motor counterparts.

The primary garage door opener we offer and install everyday is a very reasonably priced ½ HP DC motor trolley-based system, which uses a chain drive. Although most people believe a belt drive is superior because it’s quieter, we have found that a properly installed chain drive coupled with a DC motor offers a very smooth, cost effective, and quiet option. This is our most popular garage door opener for this reason.

All our residential garage door openers are professional grade and come standard with a solid rail system for strength, durability, and quality. These stand in contrast to the do-it-yourself options available at the large box stores, which come in many pieces in a box and do not offer the same level of quality and durability.

Residential Jackshaft Openers

While trolley-based openers are most common, some applications call for a jackshaft opener. This type of opener is mounted on the wall next to the door versus the ceiling, and it does not use a trolley and rail system. Instead, this type of opener connects with the torsion tube of the garage door and spins this to move the door up and down. These openers are typically feature rich and quiet. The primary downside is the price point, with jackshaft openers costing significantly more than their trolley-based relatives.
